Seeing as how the last time I posted a blog was the last time it snowed, and it is now July, I think I'm long over due for a new post. However there won't be a million pictures in this one (shocker, I know) because I'm over at Tina's and don't have any pics on this computer.

At the beginning of the summer I went to CTOPS (Carolina's Freshmen Orientation)and received my new laptop, signed up for classes, and basically got a feel for the school. Since June 9th (the day I went) I have been completely in love with UNC and incredibly excited about moving in August 16th. This is a new chapter in my life and I'm more than eager to begin it. Don't get me wrong, I love my home life, but it is going to be so nice living on my own/with my friends,
making my own decisions, and basically just being independent. Not to mention I'm so sick of high school I could die. Parkland was the worst school I've ever been forced to attend, and although Career Center was awesome, college is going to be much better. My schedule for this fall is as follows:

MWF:
Chemistry 101 09:00AM-09:50AM
The World Since 1945 11:00AM-11:50AM
Calculus (CALC FUNC ONE VAR II) 02:00PM-02:50PM

T & Th:
Intro to Fiction 08:00AM-09:15AM
Lifetime Fitness- Beg. Swimming 09:30AM-10:20AM
Philosophy: Evil 11:00AM-12:15PM

Wednesday:
History Recitation 01:00PM-01:50PM

Thursday:
Chemistry 101 Lab 01:00PM-04:50PM

I'm really excited about all of those classes. I'm currently "undecided" in my major, but I'm on a Pre-Med track and thinking about majoring in Psychology to become a Psychiatrist. People keep telling me that it would be weird/difficult working with mentally unstable people, but I say, hey, I'm use to it. Have you MET my family? haha I'm just teasing, I actually think it'd be very, very interesting. Plus, I've wanted to be some type of doctor for a long time. Who knows what I will actually end up doing. Todd went to Bard thinking he'd be an English major and ended up doing Computer Science. Those things aren't even related, lol.
School is pretty much all I've thought about this summer, but I have managed to do some other things.
June 21st I flew up to NY to see Nathan. Once there we hung out, went to the beach and some Korean Spa near NYC (where I saw wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many old, naked, Korean women), and played far too much Guitar Hero and "Army of Two" (an amazing game, btw). June 30th we rode back to North Carolina, where I spent one day hanging out with Tina & Jon, and one day celebrating my 18th Birthday. Nathan took me to Chili's (my choice, cause I loooove their Southwestern Egg Rolls) to celebrate, and Nanny and Papa graciously gave me 50 dollars for a combination graduation/birthday present. Mama & Ricky are going to take Nathan and me to the mountains at the end of this month (as my present) because we went last year and I enjoyed it enough they said they'd take us again. The day after my birthday I left with Nanny and Papa for Tennessee, where we saw Papa's sister Pauline. The next morning we went to Alabama, where we visited with the rest of the family until like the 6th, when we visited Pauline again and went home. It was kind of odd going from New York, where life is very quick paced and people are kind of rude/stuck up, to Alabama where life is incredibly slow paced and the people have extreme manners and religion. However, I still had a ton of fun with my super awesome cousins.
Since coming home all I've done is hang out with Nathan and my friends, play Sims 2, and read fantasy novels. I'm currently reading the Wayfarer Redemption trilogy, which is apparently part of a longer series of 6 books. Although kind of a strange set of books, I am thoroughly enjoying them. I've got to start reading Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights by Kenji Yoshino some time soon but I haven't even bought it yet. That's the book for Carolina, for those of you I haven't already told. You can go here to read about it.
That is pretty much all I can think of to tell everyone. I should probably go to bed now because I've got to be up around 8 to babysit Chris and Emma for Tina and Jon...but I don't think I will. For pictures of my trip to New York and Alabama, see my Facebook. We all know I take far too many pictures, and have literally almost 30 albums on there proving that statement.

Ok, well, I love everyone very much!!
:D type='text'>Fun Stuff!

SO.. lately I've been working on college applications, doing homework for my 3 AP, 1 IB, and 2 honors classes, and reading books.
I read American Gods (one of my new favorites) and I was going to read Light In August but it turns out we're reading that 3rd quarter in English and I figured I'd just wait until then. So now I am not sure what I'm going to read... I went to the library and picked out some decent books for now though. Atleast I hope they're decent. The library was closing and I had to just grab some with pretty covers. I hope they arent STUPID lol.
In other news on Papa's birthday (or a few days later actually) Ashley and I made him dinner (I made the chicken and ash made the mac & cheese). I'm going to post pics from his actual birthday and the night we made him dinner. w00t.
Actual Bday:

Dinner:

End of Summer

It is very sad to me that the summer I anticipated for so long is already a week from being over. It's not as though I didn't have a good one, i just wish it had lasted longer.

On Saturday I got to go to Wet n' Wild with Nathan and his family, which was a BLAST. Unfortunately, today I was forced to start reading the books for my AP English Lit class (How To Read Literature Like a Professor, then after that Frankenstein). The reason this sucks so much is because I REALLY wanted to finish reading Stardust so that I could go see the movie with Tina. I'm only about 90 pages into the book and I'm already in love with it. I enjoy fantasy novels quite a bit, and since I've been kind of.. not to say fed up with.. but somewhat bored with the Wheel of Time series, it's nice to have another book I can finally get into. It isn't that I haven't been reading, I just haven't been able to find any fantasy books that i was particularly eager to read. ANYWAY i'm procrastinating and need to go read HTRLLAP before mama calls and yells at me about it. I'll update this post later with pics so check back in a few hours :)

Courtney pt. 2

Today we played outside :)

Us jumping like idiots:

Water time!!

it was really cold, lol

water limbo ^^

Pretty much just relaxing because it's finally SUMMER!!

hehe

^^ that'd be when ashley attacked me with silly string. lol

I'm SO HAPPY to finally be getting a break.
In other news, I get my SAT scores back tomorrow and i'm really nervous about that because i thought it was really easy but knowing my luck i screwed up horribly and made really low scores. We'll see :)

As for colleges, I'm still looking into them but have a pretty good idea of my list. Duke, University of Richmond, UNC Chapel Hill, and Emory (in Atlanta) are my top choices, in that order. My back up schools include UNC Wilmington, Elon, and uh.. well.. i should really start looking into backup schools. I don't want to be screwed if i don't get into my top choices. I have a meeting with someone from Crosby Scholars on the 28th to discuss my college list, my sat scores, my extra curriculars, etc. Since i'm a senior now [WOOOOOT] they assign us advisors and help us through the process of choosing a college, applying, doing financial aid, and all that jazz. It'll be interesting seeing what they have to say since they do this EVERY YEAR with hundreds of seniors in forsyth county. I'm sooo nervous about college its not even funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about being independent and going off to learn tons of new things, but i'm just afraid i wont get into a good enough school or i'll get into one i thought was amazing just to find out it sucks. Or that i'll go to a school and then not be able to decide what i want to major in until its too late and i havent taken enough classes in that area to be able to do that. AHH it all just seems too freakin complicated. But i'm more excited than anything. Lets hope it all turns out ok?
*Tiff*

So Close

School is so close to over, and Summer is so close to here, I can almost taste it. I thought that was really sweet.

And this is what my corsage looked like:

Carnations are my favorite!

Overall, it was a great night.

Just Some Stuff

So. I'm ready for summer and i really just want AP exams to be over and DONE WITH. I'm spazzing out about the AP Calc and AP US History exams, and i'm just not sure how i'm going to pass them. In other news, i'm about to start the 5th book in the Wheel of Time series, attempt to study for AP exams until May 16th (end of the last one, including english), and get ready for prom (may 12th-yay). I've got a dress for Prom, and afterwards i'll be sure to post a ton of pictures. As for colleges, I still really like Univ. of Richmond, but i havent really been looking much and todd never replied to my email so, ya know, not much progress has happened in that field. Overall, life is stressful, but good.

:)

Spring Break [Part 2]

So this week has been pretty fantastic. I've been able to hang out with nathan a LOT, i've played ton of WoW, i got to go to the mall with Whitley (who i hadn't seen since like june), and i've actually got most of my history homework done. I'm relatively proud of my time management skills. ;)

Here are, as usual, some pictures of it all.

On a sad note, my friends from Paisley {not the ones in my grade that left paisley, but the ones a grade below me) were on a cruise ship heading to Greece when they hit a reef. The emergency crew was able to evacuate everyone before it sank(except there are currently two french people from the ship missing) but all of their stuff went with the ship. You guys remember Jonathan, my ex-boyfriend and one of my bestfriends? He was on there. I feel sooo bad for those people. There were 77 people from Paisley (staff, parents, and students) and i'm willing to bet i knew most of them. Here is a pic i got off of fox8 or somewhere.

The whole story:click here
That story cracks me up when it starts talkin about Zak. I went to school with him (he was actually the person that had me for secret santa this past christmas, lol) and i know his girlfriend (played volleyball with her and went to school w/her). He is a goofy kid, its weird hearing him be all serious.

Spring Break!

YAY!
It's finally Spring Break. Part of the family from Alabama [Carlos, Mary, Caitlan, Ben, and Jason] was here this week and although i had a ton of fun, going to school then coming home to socialize all night was not exactly my idea of restful.
On the up side, i managed to get a ton of great pictures of everyone for you guys to see.
keep in mind, Caitlan and I are goofy.

in an antique store in Mt.Airy

<igm src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s87/twistedmoose/alabama%20family/alabamafam152.jpg">

on the porch :)

chillin in the garden and makin funny faces.

weird shades of lipstick. haha

cooking!

eating!

Carlos and Caitlan

Nanny, Caitlan, Mary, and Jason outside of the dollar store.

so basically i like to take pictures.

In Other News.
i've been looking at colleges, and so far my favorite is University of Richmond. I don't really know where i'll end up going, and i've only barely begun my search for the perfect college, but i can't wait to decide. I'm pretty pleased with how my transcript looks so far too. I'm 26th in my class with a 3.9-something weighted GPA, i'm passing three AP classes this year and will take three more next year, i've done 156 hours of community service since 6th grade (not sure how much of that was in high school though), i received the IB MYP Certificate last year (for completing five years of IB work with good grades, doing 150 hours of that community and service, and doing a personal project), i've got tons of work experience, i was in the beta club for two years (i was treasurer one year), i was on the newspaper staff for two years, i was on the yearbook staff for two years, i was in art club, i was manager of the volleyball team in 10th grade, i'm in crosby scholars (this will be the third year) and in german club, and i've been nominated for the National Honors Society for next year. I also plan to be in more clubs next year, considering i'm only in german club and crosby scholars this year because i was new to parkland and didn't really know how to go about joining anything. I just hope this is enough to get me into the school of my choice. If i get stuck going somewhere that sucks just because i never made straight A's, i'm going to be very disappointed.

Anyway...I suppose i had better go work on my 8-10 page paper due monday. bleh.
BUT, I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about all this stuff.
I love you all,
*tiffany*
</igm>
